Microsoft Xbox Kinect

Console Platform & Gesture Experience

I feel incredibly honored and grateful to have had the privilege of leading the design for such a renowned product, Kinect. Being a part of the project since day one and seeing it through to its release was a remarkable experience. The journey involved countless late nights of team collaboration to transform the initial concept into a finished product. Despite various challenges along the way, our team consisting of talented individuals across research, wire, visual, and motion design remained strong and dedicated to bringing the vision to life.

This project holds a special place in my heart, as it brought truly meaningful moments that touched my heart upon its release. I received an email forwarded by the marketing team, sharing the story of a mother and her 7-year-old son who faced medical challenges. Introducing him to this gesture-based experience not only encouraged him to become more active but also helped strengthen his bond with his family as they enjoyed playing games together. There's so much more to their story that I look forward to sharing when the time is right, as it serves as a powerful reminder of the impact our work can have on people's lives.

Presented here are a select few wireframes we explored during the early stages of the Kinect project. Our primary focus at the time was to develop an innovative and engaging gesture-based experience for users.
